The Kansas City Museum is considering a new future away from management by Union Station, The Kansas City Star reports.
The museum?s advisory board would work to separate from Union Station Kansas City and form a new tax-exempt organization, according to a draft business plan obtained by The Star. The plan states that the museum would have trouble attaining professional accreditation because of its ties to Union Station.
News of the potential defection comes after Union Station CEO George Guastello fired museum Director Christopher Leitch.
Union Station assumed management of the museum in 2007 and many of the museum?s collections belong to Union Station, The Star reports.
NEW YORK (AP) ? Thousands of demonstrators from across the country ? chanting, praying and fighting tears ? protested a jury's decision to clear neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager, and organizers say they'll try to maintain the momentum with vigils next weekend.
Rallies on Sunday were largely peaceful as demonstrators voiced their support for 17-year-old Trayvon Martin's family and decried the verdict. Police in Los Angeles said they arrested six people, mostly for failure to disperse, after about 80 protesters gathered in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard and an unlawful assembly was declared. New York police said at least a dozen people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges during a rally in Times Square.
Advocates want federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman, who was acquitted Saturday in Martin's 2012 shooting death. The Rev. Al Sharpton said Monday that his organization will hold vigils and rallies in 100 cities Saturday in front of federal buildings.
The Justice Department has said it's considering whether federal prosecutors should file criminal civil rights charges now that Zimmerman has been acquitted in the state case. The department opened an investigation into Martin's death last year but stepped aside to allow the state prosecution to proceed.
Sunday's demonstrations, held in cities from Florida to Wisconsin, attracted anywhere from a few dozen people to a more than a thousand.
At a march and rally in downtown Chicago attended by about 200 people, 73-year-old Maya Miller said the case reminded her of the 1955 slaying of Emmitt Till, a 14-year-old from Chicago who was murdered by a group of white men while visiting Mississippi. Till's killing galvanized the civil rights movement.
"Fifty-eight years and nothing's changed," Miller said, pausing to join a chant for "Justice for Trayvon, not one more."
In New York City, more than 1,000 people marched into Times Square on Sunday night, zigzagging through Manhattan's streets to avoid police lines. Sign-carrying marchers thronged the busy intersection, chanting "Justice for! Trayvon Martin!" as they made their way from downtown Union Square, blocking traffic for more than an hour.
In San Francisco and in Los Angeles, where police dispersed an earlier protest with beanbag rounds, police closed streets Sunday.
President Barack Obama, Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson have urged calm. In Oakland, Calif., during protests that began late Saturday night, some angry demonstrators broke windows, burned U.S. flags, vandalized a police squad car and spray-painted anti-police graffiti.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti urged protesters to "practice peace" after rock- and bottle-throwing. Later, more than 100 officers in riot gear converged and ordered people to disperse. A handful of people were given citations, mostly for blocking a street or jaywalking
Rand Powdrill, 41, of San Leandro, Calif., said he marched in San Francisco with about 400 others to "protest the execution of an innocent black teenager."
"If our voices can't be heard, then this is just going to keep going on," he said.
Earlier, at Manhattan's Middle Collegiate Church, many congregants wore hooded sweatshirts similar to the one Martin was wearing the night he was shot. Hoodie-clad Jessica Nacinovich said she could only feel disappointment and sadness over the verdict.
"I'm sure jurors did what they felt was right in accordance with the law but maybe the law is wrong, maybe society is wrong; there's a lot that needs fixing," she said.
At a service in Sanford, Fla., where Zimmerman was tried, teens wearing shirts with Martin's picture wiped away tears during a church sermon.
Protesters also gathered in Atlanta, Miami, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., along with a host of other cities.
In Miami, more than 200 people gathered. "You can't justify murder," read one poster. Another read "Don't worry about more riots. Worry about more Zimmermans."
Carol Reitner, 76, of Miami, said she heard about the vigil through an announcement at her church Sunday morning. "I was really devastated. It's really hard to believe that someone can take the life of someone else and walk out of court free," she said.
In Philadelphia, about 700 protesters marched through downtown to the Liberty Bell, alternating between chanting Trayvon Martin's name and "No justice, no peace!"
"We hope this will begin a movement to end discrimination against young black men," said Johnathan Cooper, one of the protest's organizers. "And also to empower black people and get them involved in the system."
In Atlanta, about 75 protesters chanted and carried signs near Centennial Olympic Park.
"I came out today because a great deal of injustice has been done and I'm very disappointed at our justice system," said Tabatha Holley, 19, of Atlanta.
"I'm just disappointed in America."

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: Right, it is. She submitted an affidavit that was, if not perjurious, completely misleading. She violated all kinds of rules of the profession, and her conduct bordered on criminal conduct. She, by the way, has a horrible reputation in Florida. She?s known for overcharging, she?s known for being highly political. And in this case, of course she overcharged. Halfway through the trial she realized she wasn?t going to get a second degree murder verdict, so she asked for a compromised verdict, for manslaughter. And then, she went even further and said that she was going to charge him with child abuse and felony murder. That was such a stretch that it goes beyond anything professionally responsible. She was among the most irresponsible prosecutors I?ve seen in 50 years of litigating cases, and believe me, I?ve seen good prosecutors, bad prosecutors, but rarely have I seen one as bad as this prosecutor, [Angela] Cory. Episcopal Church gays and lesbians are weighing a resolution to be put forward at the next General Convention making it illegal for straight white males to be admitted to the priesthood.
LA Bishop Mary Glasspool, an avowed lesbian and one of many lesbians and gays supporting the "no white males resolution", crafted her resolution after hearing a straight white male preaching a sermon condemning homosexual behavior last month.
"I was shocked, stunned, blown away and mortified. I have never heard such homophobia coming from a pulpit. That was my moment to say enough is enough.
"This comes down to a choice between misogynistic white males versus gays and lesbians in an ever shrinking church and LGBTQI folk who insist they should be able to get laid by whomever, whenever because G-d loves them just the way they are, and we choose justice, inclusion and integrity."
Bishop Glasspool said she has the support of bishops like Gene Robinson, Otis Charles, Frank Griswold, clergy like Susan Russell and pedophiles and sexual abusers like Bede Parry and many more gays who have yet to come out of the closet. She said the resolution would keep out men who only had a penile interest in women, hate-mongers, homophobes, and other gay hating types. She said she was deeply moved by the late Ronald Haines Bishop of Washington who unofficially adopted that policy when he was bishop there. It worked so well the diocese is now being largely sustained financially by the Soper Fund.
"Straight white males are only good for breeding future gays if we can screw up the family relationships early enough in their lives, but we do not want them preaching, running churches, and definitely not bishop material, it's an insult to our dignity and integrity," opined Glasspool.
But a straight white bishop, the Rt. Rev. Gregory Brewer (CF), believes that the total ban on straight white males goes "too far". He is proposing a less draconian resolution that would allow some white men who love women to remain in the Episcopal Church as associate rectors and vicars.
Glasspool concurred. "The Episcopal Church needs white males to clean up the refreshments in the kitchen on Sunday morning after the service is over. Men can clean the pews and the elements and lick plates in case the water is turned off because of an unpaid water bill," said Glasspool, noting that a large number of churches bordered on extinction owing to the collapse of heterosexual marriages.
"If they show that they can do those things and stay out of church politics, there might just be a pathway to ordination if they behave themselves and subject themselves to women priests some of whom have strong sado-masochistic tendencies."
Why any non-homosexual male of any race would want to attend any ECUSA "church" that has not already exited that denomination is beyond my understanding.

The ECUSA has an enormous amount of financial resources - not just land and buildings, but cash and securities holdings from generations of bequests and donations.
The goal of this crew is drive away as many believers as possible while keeping the resources.
Imagine having a congregation of 50 aging liberals. You conduct one service per week - one hour's work.
In return, you are paid over $100,000 per year, you live rent-free in a lavish home, you drive a parish car, you have unlimited free time and a gold-plated retirement and health package.
All you need is a majority of the parish trustees and a cooperative bishop and you are on the gravy train for life.

It's a ploy. To force mainstream Christian churches to allow LGBT's as pastors.
Whatever ammunition is used against them in this case will be returned when churches refuse to recognize minority males turned females as candidates for the priesthood.

That?s precisely the case.
Churches have always attracted rent-seekers of a certain type. In this case excess money and no outside feedback seems to have corrupted it completely. They can in fact run their scam for as long as they like, even if their congregations decline into triviality.
In the old days the Anglicans came close to this, being not answerable to their congregations or communities, but arguably were kept out of trouble as the local landowners had the authority to appoint local clergymen. Often abused for political reasons or to give ne?er do well younger sons something to do, but most often exercised responsibly. Kept the institution tied closely both to the people and the aristocracy.
This system broke down there, with the decline of the aristocracy, and the infection spread.
When other churches or religions suffer from corrupt episodes though, the ?media? notices. A mafia living off the Episcopal corpse doesn?t seem to have attracted much notice.

Glasspool added, they will also be required to:
1. Memorize, and be able to recite fully, the Vagina Monologues, one of the additional books to our bible.
2. Begin their conversion to the female gender within months, and carry around a Church ID card with a picture clearly depicting what their new Vagina will look like.
Strict guidelines will be applied, i.e., no bikini waxes/trims, etc. A full and natural Vagina hair patch will be required to be maintained at all times, along with equivalent armpit hair -- and inspections will be performed, to compare their Vagina ID to their newly acquired Vagina, on a schedule defined by their female bishop.
However, to show that we are more merciful than God, we will allow the men to comb their Vagina patch, parted down the middle -- but NO combovers, hair tinting, or spiked hair styles will be allowed!
3. All additional rules to be identified in the upcoming "Lesbian Women Aren't Going To Take Any More Guff From God!" conference next month in San Francisco, USA. It is a George Soros/Barak Obama sponsored event.

The gentleman wasn't simply volunteering his opinion about same-sex sexual relationships ma'am. The Holy Bible clearly condemns such relationships. In fact, Romans 1:22-27 indicates that such relationships are a consequence of idolatry, disobedience of the 1st Commandment.

Glasspool concurred. "The Episcopal Church needs white males to clean up the refreshments in the kitchen on Sunday morning after the service is over. Men can clean the pews and the elements and lick plates in case the water is turned off because of an unpaid water bill," said Glasspool,

This is of course satire. However what would you expect from a cult that was founded by the decadent Henry VIII ?

Its tagged as humor, but not too far from reality .

There is a very good reason why we walked away from this, and why my husband is an Anglican priest in the Anglican Church in North America.

Dear Queer Giraffes,
Due to the discriminatory nature of sexual organs, congress has determined in fairness that all fetuses are to be genetically altered as gender neutral. Opposition parties have supported the measure in that it provides if you like your gender, you can keep it.
Thank you for your continued support in upcoming elections, The Ruling Class

Why any non-homosexual male of any race would want to attend any ECUSA "church" that has not already exited that denomination is beyond my understanding.
It's a ploy. To force mainstream Christian churches to allow LGBT's as pastors.
Whatever ammunition is used against them in this case will be returned when churches refuse to recognize minority males turned females as candidates for the priesthood.

The Episcopal Church is attempting to embrace and encourage every sexual abnormality possible.
?Q? is for Questioning
?I? is for Intersex - someone who has both male and female sex organs.
When ECUSA rejected the Bible and allowed homosexuals to be Bishops, everyone I knew bailed. Now ECUSA lies about membership, is selling off assets, and is still exploring the boundaries of sexual perversion. Look for bestiality and child sex to follow.

Mary Glasspool: I have never heard such homophobia coming from a pulpit.

When I first read this I thought it had to either be from The Onion, or satire. Guess not.
I was raised in the Episcopalian church, but bowed out decades ago. They were creepy back then and their "all gay, all the time" agenda has only made them creepier.
Having set out on a path of self-destruction, their eventual demise will not be a surprise and they won't be missed. Back when I attended Episcopalian masses, they perverted God's word and now they're perverting it even more.

NORFOLK- Usually, a baseball pitcher's wins come on the field, but Mark Young's win came off the diamond.
In 2006, Mark was a promising pitcher at Norfolk State University. ?He was even scouted by the New York Mets. That is, until his parents noticed a lump in the back of his neck. They urged Mark to see a doctor. That same night, The Chesapeake man was diagnosed with brain cancer.
"The first thing that went through my mind was, am I going to die?," he recalled.
Mark battled to stay alive and his parents were with him during every moment.
Dreams of a professional baseball career were put on hold.?
Thanks to his mom, Penny Young, and the folks at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters and Virginia Oncology, Mark learned to walk, talk, and do simple, everyday things again.
Mark was 21 years old. Penny had to help him take showers, dress and feed him and her love helped pull him through.
"You don't give up and I didn't give up on him," Penny said.
Mark didn't give up on himself, thanks in large part to some valuable friends - some at Norfolk Apostolic Church, where the power of prayer gave him inner strength, and his?trainer at One Life Fitness Gym in Norfolk. ?Jackie helped him build his physical strength.
With their love and encouragement and a leg brace for support, Mark recently pulled off a great accomplishment -- he ran on his own for the first time in more than six years.
"I was like, 'I'm doing it! I'm doing it!'" Mark said.
Mark is cancer free and back on his feet again. His buddies have a jersey waiting for him when he can join their recreational softball team. It's not the major leagues, but being able to get back on any pitcher's mound is Mark's dream now.?
He hopes his story will inspire others dealing with their own battles with cancer.
"Battle. Don't take things for granted," Mark said. "That's one thing I really want to get across, is never give up."
